2018 Bielski Cup

Posted on April 18, 2018September 13, 2023 by Croydon & District Chess League

April 2018… The Bielski Cup was held on 6 April at CCF. 15 4-board teams (a record in recent times at least) competed in 10 rounds of blitz chess. Chipstead Valley ran out winners with 33.5/40 game points ahead of Crystal Palace (25.5 points). The grading prize – for the best-placed team with a total grade of less than 600 – was won jointly by Streatham and Brixton C, The Three Musketeers and Me, and Wallington and Carlshalton (all with 23 game points). A special mention for the Glaring Howellers: a team made up entirely of members of one family!  The results will be submitted to FIDE for rating and should be reflected in the May 2018 version of the rating list. Thanks as always to Scott, Daniel and CCF for their very efficient organising.
